I Know This

We do not live forever,
I know this,
just as sunlight and moonbeams
cannot shine simultaneously.
But sometimes I feel
he and I
will transcend the inevitable.
Imagining the opposite
is unimaginable
because it means one of us
will be left alone with our tears
to sweep up the shattered pieces
of our hearts
in every room we step into.
It implies witnessing solo
every sunrise,
every sunset.
Daydreaming is okay,
isn’t it?
Believing we will live forever
is alright,
isn’t it?
What is life
without dreams,
devoid of fantasy?
Reality lurks
in the shadows,
I know this,
I feel its presence,
but until life changes,
I will live in my fantasy,
knowing he is beside me
for eternity.

Wild Emotions

No one listens, no one understands the version of me…
My spirit sinks to the bottom of the ocean floor.
My sky holds gray clouds with no sign of cerulean.
My body suffers heaviness as the hand of death.
My mind resides in a muddle of negativity
Like a dirge repeating loop after loop…
A shadowy corner in my room invites me for an extended stay.
Sun rays no longer peek through my curtains
Because even my sunken spirit has the sun feeling uncertain…
The silvery moon feels unsure of which cycle to perform.
The weather considers cooking up a crackling thunderstorm.
Neither has any idea of the action to prompt or what to discern
Because choice and reactions have met at a crossroads.
But only I possess the ability to control my wild emotions.
I will muster up the mettle needed to crawl out of that shadowy corner.
I will lift my spirit from remaining saddled on the ocean floor,
Stealing every ounce of oxygen it requires to thrive.
I will draw those curtains, letting the warmth caress my face
From a sun relaxing in that cerulean sky – for invisibility is not my fate.
