My cheeks turn hot
hearing your words
in the dead of winter.
Blood drips from the corner
of my mouth, for all times
I bit my tongue.
Sun cools me down picking
strawberries in the heat of
summer as sweat cools my brow.
For all the things I didn’t say
and all the things I said
I can breathe at the end of the day.
