The Song of Lilith
I am forbidden delicious golden.
Peeled away, seeded among weeds
in his soil. Wrought from the same dust.
I am not serpentine heat
under his skin. I am not
his meager meal. I am bird-footed,
winged night bird, feathered
in moon. I am demon tree limbsโEve,
Donโt sleep here.
To delight you further, here is one of Barbara’s haiku that will be included in Literary Revelations’ upcoming book, TRANQUILITY: AN ANTHOLOGY OF HAIKU, which will be released at the end of April.
lake grass prickles the hot sand
warm toes tickle waves
hollow reeds whistle my breath

I enjoyed the poem, “Lilith,” Barbara. Intrigued, I did a little research on Lilith. It seems that womanly jealousy goes way back to the beginning of time! ๐น๐ The haiku is lovely, reminding me of an upcoming visit to Everglades National Park with my daughters. I am so looking forward to it!
