And The Earth Shook

Pain so deep the earth shakes
Crying so hard the ground beneath her cracks apart
Loss beyond what a sane person can take
Shutting out the world, she is alone in the dark

She’s cried for so long, there’s no tears left to fall
She’s felt dead for so long, there’s nothing left to feel
Lying there, without even enough will to crawl
Dying there, wondering if she can ever heal

A lone body, curled up in a heap
A tired mind, exhausted from no sleep
A torn spirit, ready to say goodbye
A broken heart, to damaged to even try

She can’t see beyond the past
To her, the past was an atomic bomb
It doesn’t matter how fast you react
There’s nowhere to run, hope is gone

Is there a happy ending?
Not within her sight
Could there be a future one, pending?
Maybe, but for that she would have to fight

It’s a fight that she’s already lost
Her happiness was the cost
And all that’s left is cold
And there is no happy story to be told.

Picture This

Imagine a giant,
With chiseled arms and abs,
With a lovely smile,
Any woman, he can have.
Dripping with charm,
Glazed with false promises,
Is he gently holding your arm,
Or dragging you through crevices?
Imagine a giant,
His hand so mighty,
Hovering over your vulnerable heart,
Deciding where he should start.
Shall he court you wisely,
And get inside your head,
Or will he go in for the kill,
Taking you straight to bed.
Imagine a giant,
With your hope in his hands,
Crushing it slowly,
Turning it to sand.
Cowering beneath him,
She is lost and scared,
Trembling at his feet,
We remain unprepared.
Imagine.
Imagine a giant.
